Tello and DJI Mini Drones - Youth Ambassador Grant
Grant Amount: $2,500
Date In Effect: 2025
Schools Impacted: Jr. Sr. High School
This grant funded the purchase of 5 Tello drones and 3 DJI Mini 3 drones. Drones are currently used in the Summer Research course, where students code autonomous flight paths and collect environmental data for analysis in the paired Statistics course. With this grant, drones will also be integrated into Computer Science courses, allowing students to apply programming skills to real-time obstacle course challenges, and could be incorporated into Advanced Computer Programming, AP Physics, AP Statistics, and STEM Technology to broaden hands-on learning opportunities. This additional equipment will allow more than 60 students to work directly with drone coding, data collection, and autonomous systems, strengthening their exposure to computer science and emerging technologies.
