Mind, Body & Social Media Series in Partnership with LaunchPad & Social Media Expert Josh Ochs

LaunchPad_Event.jpg
On March 30th, The Cold Spring Harbor Educational Foundation hosted the first event of its kind at a little known business in Huntington, appropriately named, LaunchPad. The unique space is a collaborative workspace and seed fund designed to help entrepreneurs improve the odds of startup success and build successful companies on Long Island. LaunchPad served as the perfect backdrop for The Foundation’s live Skype presentation with bestselling social media author, Josh Ochs. Ochs facilitated a conversation about social media and children, and how to be safe and smart when using social sites and apps. He also provided tools for parents to monitor their children’s usage and shared insight into how students and adults alike can “shine online” with positive posts that create a polished and professional online presence.

“Bringing parents to LaunchPad allowed us to experience the power technology has to expand learning beyond the classroom walls for our children,” said Foundation President Stephanie DiNozzi. Furthermore, it gave LaunchPad an opportunity to expand its reach within the community while showing parents how business spaces and classrooms will look for the millennium generation.

The powerful partnerships the Foundation creates continues to expand. Invitations to the LaunchPad event were extended to surrounding district leaders as well, with the hope that they too would see the value in this important information and potentially share the cost to bring Mrs. Ochs back in the fall to present to students.
